CITB Health and Safety Awareness (1 day) - The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) has made changes for obtaining a Green Card (Labourer Card). These new requirements were introduced in July 2014, they state that along with the 'touch screen' test, a qualification (or equivalent) must be achieved in order to apply for the Green Card.

Ideally aimed at young people or those entering the workforce for the first time this qualification is the perfect addition to any CV. This qualification is available to those over 14 years. Candidates should be at least a level 1 numeracy and literacy or equivalent. The course is a minimum of 4 hours
Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace.
This qualification is aimed at all employees, or those looking to enter/re-enter the workforce. Health and safety training is a requirement in workplaces and this qualification enables learners to identify and understand the most common workplace hazards. This qualification is available to those over 16 years. Candidates should be at least a level 1 numeracy and literacy or equivalent. The course is a minimum of 6 hours, so practically deliverd overa full day.
Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace.
This qualification is aimed at those in a supervisory role. While undertaking the qualification, candidates will learn more about the common workplace hazards and controls, risk assessment and health and safety management in general. This qualification is available to those over 16 years. Candidates should be at least a level 1 numeracy and literacy or equivalent, level 2 ability would be more practical. The course is a minimum of 18 hours so ideally delivered over 3 days.
Level 2 Award in Principles of Workplace Risk Assessment.
This qualification is for anyone looking to improve their knowledge related to health and safety risk assessments, or looking to support competent risk assessors. The qualification is ideally aimed at employees looking to take on more health and safety responsibilities. This qualification is available to those over 14 years. Candidates should be at least a level 1 numeracy and literacy or equivalent. The course is a minimum of 6 hours, so practically deliverd overa full day.
Level 3 Award in Workplace Risk Assessment.
This qualification is aimed at those looking to develop the competencies to be able to undertake suitable and sufficient risk assessments of workplace health and safety issues. Learners are assessed in undertaking a risk assessment and reporting their findings. This qualification is available to those over 16 years. Candidates should be at least a level 2 numeracy and literacy or equivalent. The course requires 12 hours face to face training and up to 8 hours further independant work.
Level 2 Award in Fire Safety for Fire Marshals
This qualification is aimed at those required to undertake the role of a fire marshal in the workplace. The qualification builds on the Level 1 Award in Fire Awareness in the workplace, which can also be provided.This qualification is available to those over 14 years, however employers should ensure that delegates are suitable to undertake the role of a fire marshal. Candidates should be at least a level 1 numeracy and literacy or equivalent. The course is a minimum of 6 hours, so practically deliverd overa full day.
Level 2 Award in the Principles of Manual Handling at Work.
This qualification is for those at work that require an understanding of the hazards associated with manual handling and how these can best be avoided. The programme is typically delivered over a half-day and with no practical assessment provides just the knowledge element. This may be more suited to those with existing injuries or those that cannot undertake practical tasks. This qualification is available to those over 14 years. Candidates should be at least a level 1 numeracy and literacy or equivalent. The course is a minimum of 4 hours
Level 2 Award in Manual Handling Loads at Work.
This qualification builds on the principles qualification above and includes practical elements; ensuring you have the skills to handle a range of objects in a safer manner. This qualification is for those at work that require an understanding of the hazards associated with manual handling and how these can best be avoided. The assessment includes practical elements as well as the knowledge element found in the QNUK Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling at Work. This qualification is available to those over 14 years. Candidates should be at least a level 1 numeracy and literacy or equivalent. Candidates should be physically capable of undertaking practical elements . The course is a minimum of 6 hours, so practically deliverd overa full day.
Level 2 Award in Principles of COSHH.
This qualification is for those working in environments where the use of hazardous substances is an identified risk. The qualification introduces the principles of working with substances classified under COSHH. This qualification is available to those over 14 years. Candidates should be at least a level 1 numeracy and literacy or equivalent. The course is a minimum of 4 hours.
Level 2 Award in Preventing Violence in the Workplace.
This qualification is for those working in environments where they are likely to have to deal with aggressive individuals and conflict. Examples may include those working in service industries or retail. The qualification is not for those that are likely to have to intervene in violent situations. This qualification is available to those over 16 years. Candidates should be at least a level 1 numeracy and literacy or equivalent. The course is a minimum of 6 hours, so practically delivered over a full day.
