RTA is pleased to offer Chartered Institute of Environmental Health qualifications in health and safety and trainer training:

The CIEH Level 1 Certificate in Health and Safety in the Workplace.

The new CIEH Level 1 award in Health and Safety is run as half-day course. The qualification has been designed to meet the needs of those who are entering the workplace for the first time, either as part of a work experience programme or at the start of employment, by providing an awareness of key health and safety issues and the part that they should play in keeping themselves and others free from harm at work. It will also benefit those who are starting a new job – as part of an induction programme.

The CIEH Level 2 Certificate in Health and Safety in the Workplace.

The Award can be tailored to business and individual needs to make the learning experience relevant and fit for purpose. The qualification covers the following topics:

Qualification information: The award is designed for all employees and requires 6 hours training time (one day) and is assessed at the end by a multiple choice question paper.  The qualification is QCA Accredited.

CIEH Principles of Manual Handling

This Level 1 Award enables employees to contribute to the development of safer manual handling methods and tasks.

This qualification introduces candidates to the hazards and risks involved in manual handling and outlines what to expect from a manual handling assessment. It will enable employees to develop safer manual handling techniques in the workplace.

The qualification covers the following topics:

Qualification information:  The award is designed for all employees and requires 3 hours training time.  It is assessed by a multiple choice question paper comprising of 20 questions.

CIEH Level 2 Award in the Principles of COSHH

Prepares employees to contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances

Overview

This qualification is designed for those who use substances hazardous to health at work. It introduces candidates to substances, the risks and controls available, and outlines what to expect from a control of sustances hazardous to health (COSHH) assessment. The qualification will prepare employees to contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances in their workplaces.

The qualification covers the following topics:

Qualification information:  The award is designed for all employees and requires 4 hours training time.  It is assessed by a multiple choice question paper comprising 30 questions.

CIEH Level 2 Award in Conflict Resolution and Personal Safety  

Enables employees to protect themselves in the face of confrontational behaviour

Oveview

Work-related violence is on the rise and yet employers have a duty of care to provide a safe place of work. This is not easy in environments where the potential for conflict and aggression is high. Zero tolerance initiatives and commitment to prosecution have brought improvements in organisations like the NHS, London Underground and many pubs and clubs that now work together to monitor and bar known troublemakers. Yet high staff turnover and a lack of training mean many people are still vulnerable to physical and psychological damage. The costs to businesses can be very high indeed.  The CIEH has developed this qualification to help organisations protect their staff as well as their organisational and operational effectiveness.

Qualification information:  The award is designed for all employees and is delivered in a single day.  It is assessed by a multiple choice question paper.  The qualificiation is QCA accredited.

CIEH Professional Trainer Certificate 

Overview:

This qualification is essential for anyone wishing to become a CIEH registered trainer. (Other trainer qualifications maybe accepted). It is ideal for anyone who needs to understand the basics of training practice or wants to refine their training techniques. It encourages a flexible approach to training delivery which takes into account recent advances in accelerated learning and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). Successful candidates will be able to structure, design and deliver interesting and stimulating training.

The qualification covers the following topics:

This qualification is delivered over 3 to 4 days and each delegate is assessed by presenting their own short lesson.
